A purchased licence gives the user a right to read and use that ebook (within DRM limitations, which include the duration the licence is valid for).
When you distribute your content through Snapplify, we give you the flexibility to specify the licence duration.
You can choose from three licensing durations:
- 1-year licence
- 3-year licence
- Perpetual licence
Each licence duration provides the user with a different time duration in which to access content, and should be priced according to the duration of that period.
Pricing recommendations
These recommendations are based on what customers have come to expect:
Licence | Licence durations (for user) | Set your eRRP/DLP at |
1-year licence | User will be able to access the content for a period of 1 year, after which the content will be removed from their library. | 30-50% less than your eRRP (recommended retail price) or DLP (digital price list) |
3-year licence | User will be able to access the content for a period of 3 years, after which the content will be removed from their library. | ± 20% less than your eRRP/DLP |
Perpetual licence | User will be able to access the content forever. | 0-20% less than your print RRP |
Using EAN numbers to differentiate between licences
If you would like to provide different licensing options for a title, you can do so as follows:
- Provide a unique EAN number for each title
- This can be achieved by appending an identifier to the standard EAN.
The example below shows three different licences for the same title. Please note the identifier appended to each EAN to make it unique for each licence duration.
